Mrs. Caroline Fulmer
Caroline Fulmer currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Consumer Sciences Department in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Alabama. Prior to her full-time faculty position, she worked in the financial services industry for 35 years and most recently served as Senior Vice President and Retail Banking Manager for Cadence Bank, N.A. She served as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama for 17 years prior to coming to the University of Alabama full-time in July, 2007, and she has taught the basic principles of financial planning, estate planning, retirement planning, and leadership development to more than 28,000 students.
Ms. Fulmer holds a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama and an M.S. degree from Purdue University in family financial planning and counseling. She holds the designation of Certified Financial Planner, and has a faculty appointment to the University of Alabama’s graduate school in the areas of leadership and financial planning. In 2014, Ms. Fulmer was the recipient of the University of Alabama’s Morris L. Mayer Award. This award recognizes one member of the teaching faculty who exemplifies the life of Morris L. Mayer by demonstrating selfless and significant service and leadership in the University of Alabama community, significant contributions to student life, and integrity. In 2002, she became the first and only adjunct faculty member to receive the Joseph S. Rowland Excellence in Teaching award presented by the College of Human Environment Sciences.
Ms. Fulmer’s banking experience includes management of retail banking functions, commercial banking, operations, human resources, marketing and branch administration on an individual bank and on a holding company level in both large and small markets. She has implemented sales and service programs for two companies that included designing the program, matching the program goals to corporate objectives, training executive management to oversee the program, training senior management to coach employees toward productive behaviors, and training frontline supervisors and employees to focus efforts toward profitable results. She also handled all the leadership training and executive coaching for the organization. Prior to joining Cadence Bank in 1998, she spent 24 years with Compass Bank.
